Winter is finally here and it’s time to make outdoor plans again – and with a long weekend here, there’s going to be a lot to do. However, instead of going for the regular mall or beach visits or booking a really expensive getaway, why not seek out the UAE’s hidden gems that are only a drive away?

We recommend that you go out exploring, with a group of friends and family, and have a great time under the stars surrounded by the most fantastic views. Yes, we mean you should go camping! All you need is a couple of things; tents, sleeping bags, extra clothes, snacks, lots of water and great company!

Here are the top 3 spots to set up camp:

The Quick Camping Trip: Al Qudra

AlQudraLake
A blend of the oasis and the desert, and home to flamingos and swans, this is one of the most popular camping spots in Dubai, since it’s one of the shortest drives. Only a half an hour away from Mall of the Emirates, this trip does not require a huge effort (travel-wise), but can get a bit crowded. For huge families, you should book the Nissan Patrol. For a more luxurious ride, we would recommend the Cadillac Escalade (there’s 12% off on this, if you’d like to rent it, click here)

EjarCar Recommends: Take a bicycle ride around the track to get a glimpse of the wildlife around the lake!

The Adventurous Camping Trip: Liwa

LIWA

This desert is for the most adventurous people (and for Star Wars fans too)! Now, we can’t promise that you’ll find C-3PO here but we promise that you’ll enjoy the serenity and a wonderful starry night!

The G63 is perfect for a trip like this, especially if you want to navigate the dunes and have an adventurous time here. You can read more about why this would be the perfect car for a camping trip here.

The Serene Camping Trip: Jebel Jais

jebel_jais

Located in RAK, this is the tallest mountain in the UAE, with views that will take your breath away. Prepare to pack well, especially the essentials, and carry your guitar/ukulele to have an exciting bonfire. The Mercedes G500 4×4 is perfect for a trip like this.

EjarCar Recommends: Carry a set of sweaters with you and prepare to make some hot chocolate because temperatures drops are quite significant here.

Do make sure to check weather alerts regularly while you’re making any camping plans to stay safe!
