Volvo XC90 wins accolade for brand design

Volvo wins accolade for brand design language at the 2016 Car Design Award in ‘Brand Design Language’ category, beating Mercedes-Benz, Kia, Renault and other competitors. The new XC90 is the first reflection of the new design standards adopted by Volvo. The recently released S90 and V90 Estate are the latest additions showcasing the new design language.

“The Volvo family contains many different characters – the strong and refined types, the elegant and sophisticated, the dynamic and the youthful. What we have done with the brand design at Volvo is to provide room for each of these characters, these expressions, to shine through while still paying homage to our tremendous heritage,” added Thomas Ingenlath. “Each car we design is unmistakably a Volvo, but it also has a unique personality.”

This year the Car Design Award was held in Turin, it’s original place of inception. The Car Design Award is presented in three categories, namely Brand Design Language, Concept Cars and Production Cars. It is presided over by an international jury panel comprising editorial members of some of the most prestigious automotive publications in the world.
