Making its grand appearance on the 15th of January, it looks like we’ve already received our first gift of 2018; the all new Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Although a lot is yet to be announced about the reinvented icon, we’ll tell you as much as there is to know about the all new Mercedes-Benz in this blog.
The Gelandewagen is referred to as an icon, and rightfully so; Its phenomenal off-road performance, military SUV-guise and the stuck-on technical bits are what appeal to the fans of the 40-year old classic. While retaining its iconic boxy shape, the new G-Class has been upgraded to fit in with the modern streamlines of the Benz Empire, “Luxury that goes beyond the vehicle”.
The Basic Exterior
On a quick glance of the 2019 G-Class, you’ll immediately notice the trademark visage, basic shape and even the paramount rear mounted spare tire. The doors have the same-clicky sounds. It is however the first G-Class to have a sunroof and on close observation, you will notice that even though the G-Class retains the same DNA, it is significantly bigger. It complements the idea of newer technology with its dazzling LED headlights which are customizable. You’ll also notice the bigger rims on the tires, which offer a more stylish look than the previous generations.
The Modernized G-Class Interior
In contrast to its rugged exterior, the interior architecture of the G-Class has been tweaked to offer more comfort than its counterparts, allowing for more legroom overall; an extra 1.5 inches upfront and a colossal 6 inches at the back! What’s more is that it also has hues of the noteworthy S-Class and E-Class’ infotainment systems; two massive touchscreen 12.3 inch displays.
Functionality
As for functionality, the on-road capability of the new G-Class has been significantly enhanced by swapping out the front suspension for individual units, for a smoother drive on the pavement. As for its off-road abilities, there is a 9.5 inch ground clearance that ensures that this Wagen reaffirms its unmatched off-road record.
While subtle, the upgrade of the G-Class redefines luxury. We, at ejarcar.com, are in love with the new G-Class. What are your thoughts on the revamped classic? Stay tuned with us for more updates on the 2019 G-Class.
