Land Rover has revealed the 2017 Land Rover Discovery in a world wide launch. The fifth generation Discovery is lighter, stronger and bigger. Noted for it’s wide popularity among Emiratis, it has launched a strong salvo against Nissan Patrol, another strong competitor in this segment especially in the Middle East market.
Can I rent 2017 Land Rover Discovery in UAE?
Currently the car rental companies in UAE prefer Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Vogue and Range Rover Vogue Autobiography in their car rental fleet. The All New Discovery might make a strong case for change, given the structural and technological changes in the new model. Of course the pricing will also play a huge part in adoption of Land Rover Discovery. We wait and see.

More Interior Space
The three rows have 7 full sized adult seats, unlike the 5+2 we see in most 7 seater SUVs. The new model gets 2,500 liters of luggage space which is decent for the average road trip family.
Less Weight
The 2017 Land Rover Discovery is lighter by almost half a ton, shedding 480 kilos of weight due to lightweight aluminum construction. This means improved fuel consumption and definitely better aerodynamic experience on the road. The less weight does not negate the strength factor. Land Rover claims a ‘best in class’ towing capability of 3,500 kilos with Advanced Tow Assist facility to simplify load bearing reversing.
Interior Enhancements
The 2017 Land Rover Discovery has 9 USB ports and 6 12 volt charging points. This might seem excessive until you realize there are usually more cell phones than people in a family these days (sad but true). Semi autonomous safety technology has been added to improve early detection which is especially important in long road trips.
