During last week’s Paris Motor Show, the new 2019 BMW 3 Series was officially unveiled. the BMW 3 series is the best selling model of BMW (15 million 3 Series cars sold since 1975). The new 3 Series is BMW’s most advanced car to date. Find out why below.
While there’s so much to say about this make (what the BMW geeks call the G20), we will summarize the most important bits for you:
2019 BMW 3 Series Release details
The $40,200 330ri will be available next March and Spring 2019 will see the M340i. For those who are more interested in a sustainable make, a hybrid plug-in 330e will be on sale in 2020.
Exterior
While this is the biggest 3 Series sedan yet, its overall size might not be completely obvious on first look. Even though its overall dimensions (2.9 inches longer, 0.5 inches taller, 0.6 inches wider) wheelbase (1.6 inches) and track (1.7 inches front, 0.8 inches rear) are considerably larger, the weight of the car, depending on specification, has dropped by almost 55 kilograms and its drag coefficient is as low as 0.26Cd, ensuring a pretty smooth drive.
This 3 series model has been redesigned to feature the firm’s modern ‘Precision and Poetry’ design language.
Other noticeable tweaks are the angular LED headlights, the new taillights stretch a bit farther and the hood is a bit more protuberant.
2019 BMW 3 series Interiors
The cabin has gone through a more noticeable design change. Instead of the top of the dashboard, the BMW designers have cleaned up the interiors by placing the infotainment system into the center stack
Engine
The 330i comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 255 horsepower and 400 Newton-meters of torque. The sportier versions will come with a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine producing 382 horsepower and 500 Newton-meters of torque. For these cars, BMW has estimated nought to 96 kmph in 4.2 seconds!
Technology
It wouldn’t come as a surprise that in addition to the standard ADAS, like adaptive cruise control, collision detection and so on, the G20 now has an AI system or the “Intelligent Personal Assistant” that detects your driving routine, your driving habits and your routes and is responsive to comments and queries.
